2001 International AIDS Candlelight Memorial International AIDS Candlelight Memorial On May 20th, 2001, thousands of individuals in over 300 communities in 60 countries will simultaneously participate in the world's largest and oldest annual grassroots HIV/AIDS event. The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial is designed to honor the memory of those lost to HIV/AIDS, show support for those living with HIV/AIDS, raise awareness of HIV/AIDS, and mobilize community involvement in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
